Dugan Kelly Joins the Heel-O-Matic Team

LONGMONT, Colo.—October 18, 2012—Five-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) qualifier Dugan Kelly has joined roping machine manufacturer Heel-O-Matic’s endorsement team.  Kelly is a professional heeler from Paso Robles, Calif. and has qualified for the 2012 WNFR after a short hiatus from professional roping.  Kelly credits his return to the professional ranks after securing a world-class caliber heel horse and commitment to practice during his short break.

“I love roping a Heelomatic,” says Kelly.  “There’s nothing else like the timing of a Heel-O-Matic and it’s the best on the market.  I’m excited to be on the team and to practice at home on my machine leading up to the Finals.”

Heel-O-Matic looks forward to the partnership with Kelly according to Chip Bruegman, the company’s general manager.

“Dugan is known as a horseman in the industry.  We’ve kept our eye on him during his short break from roping for a living and we’re really impressed with his horsepower and disciplined practice,” says Bruegman.  “We’re looking forward to cheering him on at the Finals this year.”

With the addition to the Heel-O-Matic team, Kelly will join over two-dozen accomplished ropers with 35 collective world championships.

Twenty-two WNFR qualifications, over $2 million in career earnings, ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee status and eight world championships, Joe Beaver knows what it takes to be a champion.  After all, his mantra is, “you compete from the neck down, but you win from the neck up.”  Joe is best known for his rodeo career in tie-down roping, which then led to his later team roping success as a header.  His talent with a rope has combined with his gift for sports psychology and he is now an accomplished clinician.  In 2012 alone, Joe coached nearly 1,000 students in 25 states and abroad.  His students, many of whom are up-and-coming superstars, rave about his approach to teaching both the physical and mental aspects of roping.

Mike Beers, World Champion Team Roper

Mike has been teaching people how to capture within themselves the roping techniques it takes to become a winner.  Being a World Champion, 24 time NFR competitor and 30 Time Columbia Circuit Finals Champion qualifies Mike to be an instructor; his patience, understanding and articulate mannerisms are what set him apart from other instructors. Starting from the ground up, Mike has the ability to teach basic roping fundamentals, moving the students up to moving objects such as the Heel-O-Matic, and then on to live steers. Every Student that has attended a Mike Beers Roping School is a winner. They have “experienced the difference” and have learned the skills that allow them to “practice perfect”.

Testimonial: Chuck Schroeder

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

Chuck Shroeder, president of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, has reached out to us before to tell us how great his Heel-O-Matic is for time spent with his wife.  Well, all that time paid off – Congrats, Chuck!

Heel O Matic allowed me to rope essentially every day as we prepared for the AQHA Select World Show, getting on live cattle two or three times a week. While always a good idea, it was critical this year as my “coaches” had been helping me make some fairly major changes in my swing, posture, seeing the shot more quickly, and delivery. So, I really needed the runs to solidify that pattern in my head. As a result, we went to Amarillo with lots of confidence feeling we’d done the work, made two nice runs and finished in the Top Ten (8th). If it weren’t for the Heel O Matic, I simply couldn’t get on cattle often enough to get to feeling solid. I know you hear these stories all the time, but that’s mine!

Chuck
